Cyanotype

Cyanotype is a photographic process that produces a cyan-blue print (hence the name). Engineers used cyanotype as a simple and low-cost process to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints.

For my cyanotype image, I took a colour photograph of my sister Georgia and converted it to a black and white image. After adjusting brightness and contrast, I manipulated and overlaid a second image (hedgerow). Finally, I used the Georgia typeface to add text and based this on the origins and meaning of the name Georgia (farmer).
